Tempera and watercolor painting on paper depicting the Campo Vaccino in Rome. A realistic view of the valley of the Roman forum as it appeared in the early 19th century. The work was produced by the Roman artist Gaspare Gabrielli (Rome 1770-1828) the following year after his return from London, where he lived for some years producing local and other Roman views by heart, which were in great demand on the London market, as memories of the Italian Gran Tour that was very popular in those years.
