Anonymous Neapolitan of the XVIII century - Oil Painting on glass with original frame in walnut “Mater Dolorosa o Madonna dei Sette Dolori” (Mater Dolorosa or Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows)

The work represents the classic depiction of the Virgin with his chest pierced by seven swords symbolizing the "Seven Sorrows". The support of the painting is typical of the southern Italian, a glass plate, where the picture is painted upside with this classic theme, dear to popular religion. The painting has some minor gaps in the paint film which do not affect the enjoyment of the whole.
