Small classic painting quick study of impression from life, a typical example of the quick execution technique, but fast-hitting, typical of the author that following the principles of immediacy of the school of so-called "Republic of Portici" which directed to capture the essence of nature and make it beyond the particularism of verismo painters like Palizzi.

Vincenzo Caprile was a Neapolitan artist devoted to realistic depiction of landscape scenes and popular characters of his city. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Naples with Domenico Morelli and Gabriel Smargiassi, becoming fairly well known as early as 1870 and participating in several exhibitions held in Naples, but also to large national exhibitions where he was praised for its realistic painting and the choice of themes related to the city of Naples and its traditions.

Impressionist painter, Caprile was related to the "School of Resin", through which he learned the use of a particularly fresh technique, very reminiscent of the technique used by Filippo Palizzi and that was the origin of a good commercial success. Along with other neapolitans impressionists, including Giuseppe Casciaro Giuseppe Alberto Cocco, Joseph Chiarolanza, Irolli Vincenzo, Vincenzo Migliaro, Attilio Pradella Luca Postiglione, Peter Scoppetta and Vincenzo Volpe, he was commissioned to decorate the rooms of the Caffè Gambrinus, meeting place of 'high society and intellectuals from all over the world.
